A Contemporary Love Story: A Styled Wedding Shoot by the Harbour

In the heart of Cornwall’s coastline, overlooking the picturesque harbour of Newquay, we created a wedding editorial that was equal parts modern and romantic. Hosted at the luxurious Harbour Hotel, Newquay, this styled shoot showcased a dramatic colour palette of deep crimson, burgundy, dark teal, and rich purples. Every detail was designed to evoke moody elegance with a contemporary edge, the perfect inspiration for couples dreaming of something a little different for their Cornish wedding.

The Vision

Our vision was to design a wedding look that spoke to modern romantics—couples who appreciate timeless details with bold personality. The Harbour Hotel’s waterfront setting provided the ideal backdrop, with sweeping harbour views and large windows flooding the space with natural light. It was the perfect canvas to highlight the rich colour scheme and the sophisticated styling.

The Cake: An Edible Masterpiece

As a wedding cake designer in Cornwall, I wanted to create a centrepiece that reflected the depth and drama of the Newquay harbour views and our moody palette. The four tiered cake was crafted with a sleek, architectural design, blending textured sugarpaste in shades of burgundy, plum and navy with a

striking teal accent separator for a real pop of colour. The winding willow branches with delicate dried blossoms spiralled around the tiers, adding movement and romance, whilst also keeping that contemporary vibe. Bold yet timeless, it fitted perfectly with the style of the rest of the decor.

Floral & Decor

The floral arrangements brought the colour palette to life. Deep crimson roses, burgundy dahlias, and wild greenery framed the ceremony arch overlooking the harbour, while the bride’s bouquet paired blush-toned roses with rich berry hues for a romantic yet modern effect. At the reception table, sleek black candlesticks, crystal glassware, and crimson floral accents created a moody, intimate atmosphere that was both stylish and inviting.

The Couple: Modern Elegance

The bride wore a sleek, structured gown with elegant ruching, embodying contemporary grace. Her flowing dark hair and pearl-studded veil added a timeless touch of romance. The groom’s tailored black tuxedo completed the modern aesthetic, creating a striking pair against the backdrop of Newquay’s harbour.

A Celebration of Love & Style at Harbour Hotel Newquay

This styled shoot at Harbour Hotel Newquay was a celebration of how contemporary design can meet timeless romance. From the dramatic floral installations to the sculptural wedding cake, every detail reflected couples who embrace bold beauty and attention to detail. For those seeking Cornwall wedding inspiration, this editorial proves that deep, rich colours and modern styling create an unforgettable celebration of love.
