Meet the designer
Hey, I’m Gemma and I am the proud owner of White Peony Cake Company. I design, create and bake cakes that represent you as a couple, bringing both of you together to make one statement piece which tastes as incredible as it looks. Baking has always been a passion of mine and I love nothing more than immersing myself in your story.
If I’m not covered in flour and buttercream, I’m either enjoying the beach with my little dude, finding an excuse to get dressed up in fancy dress, taking part in CrossFit or singing to Disney around my kitchen.
I trained as a patisserie chef 14 years ago after working as an assistant in a popular cake shop based in Newquay. During my patisserie career, I have spent time working for Rick Stein, as well as undergoing courses and training with the likes of Phil and Christine Jensen (former owners of Peboryon), Couture Wedding Cakes by Sweetcheeks Ltd and Emily Hankins.
I am very passionate about good cake! No one ever forgets a good cake. And not only should a cake look good, but it should taste incredible too! Which is why I only use the best quality ingredients- including Cornish butter and local free range eggs, to ensure your cake is as sumptuous and delicious as possible.
As a true romantic, I love to hear all about your wedding day and really delve into what makes it special. Tell me everything from the colour scheme, to the flowers and even what shoes you're wearing. I want to know everything! Using my creative instincts, I work alongside you to make the most perfect cake which captures the essence of you and your love for one another.
The cutting of the cake is one of the first things a married couple will do and I believe it should be a special moment filled with love and happiness. Every bespoke cake I lovingly create is a symbol of all the things I wish for my couples to have in their marriage - beauty, love and fun. As if your love for each other has been baked into the cake itself.

Probably Autumn.. all the pretty leaves and cosy jumpers..

Drink of choice
If it's a hot drink, then I'm a Hot Chocolate girl.. it has to be made with proper chocolate! I am quite partial to a cocktail and of course a cider.. can you tell I'm Cornish..?
