Modern Monochrome Wedding at The Barn at Pengelly Cornwall

The barn at pengelly wedding venue cornwall

Nestled in the heart of Cornwall, in a little village called Trispen, is The Barn at Pengelly. Sitting within a fifth generation working farm, it boasts stunning views of rolling hills and their own tranquil lake, which you can even get married next to! The Barn itself is a blank canvas. Huge glass windows and doors bring the outside in, whilst the tall ceilings and modern lighting give the feel of luxury– they even have Pimms on tap! With so many incredible locations for that perfect photo, where better to show off some incredible wedding suppliers!

Wedding florist Perdie's Flowers making a floral arch

Charlotte from Charlotte Razzell Photography had a vision of a black and white palette with hints of colour to make everything ‘pop’. Think Monochrome meets Hollywood!

Perdie from Perdies Flowers absolutely outdid herself at this venue. With so many areas available to dress, she was totally in her element. Using deep red ranunculus, white roses, black hanging amaranthus amongst other flowers, to create a free standing archway, buttonholes, hand-ties and my absolute favourite.. an array of floral meadows!

The Bride and Groom (real life couple Chloe and Ryan!) were styled in beautifully monochrome outfits, which both fitted the colour scheme and style of the shoot, as well as the modern, elegant feel of the venue. The Bride’s dress was beautifully handmade by Rose Savage Bridal, who’s contemporary designs are just out of this world. Whilst the Groom wore a complimentary black velvet suit with a cute little bow tie. Really adding that touch of class to the overall look.

Modern black and white wedding cake on a styled table with candles

The cake design was a little out of my comfort zone for this one. I am very much a colour person (as you will have seen from my gallery) but with the brief being ‘monochrome and classy’, I decided to embrace the lack of colour and really lean into the texture side of cake design. By using a taller tier in the middle, I created more space on which my focal piece could be arranged on to. I decided to create it almost on a diagonal, to draw the attention across the cake, from the flowers, to the rice paper sails, and down to the concrete textured sugarpaste underneath.

Wedding stylist The Little Details By Sophie styling a wedding table

Of course my modern design wouldn’t be complete without some epic styling from Soph from The Little Details By Sophie. Soph worked her magic on every table, using lots of candles and glassware to make a really minimalistic look. A world away from her usual fabric filled tables, but like me, Soph really leaned into something a little different to her usual style and made it her own. When it came to the cake table, she continued the modern, minimalistic look by using the same glassware and candles along a long table. Creating a focal point to the room. And what is a cake without a stand..? We used my tall black hairpin stand to raise my cake up from the rest of the table, adding height and really making the cake stand out.

Maria Lucas didn’t have to work particularly hard to enhance Chloe's beautiful skin. She created a very natural look whilst adding that touch of Hollywood with a gorgeous red lip! Using a headpiece or two from Rachel Chaprunne, she chose a hairstyle of very loose waves which fitted perfectly with the whole outfit.

As you can see from the photos that Charlotte took, this styled shoot was just amazing. An incredible group of suppliers paired with the most perfect brief, made for a stunning display of elegant simplicity. With The Barn at Pengelly providing a beautifully picturesque backdrop.
